Overview of CD61 molecular target information
Molecular name: CD61 (platelet glycoprotein IIIa)
Gene family: Integrin family (Integrin family)
Alias: CD61A, GP IIb/IIIa, Integrin beta-3 (Integrin beta-3)
Formerly known as: Platelet glycoprotein IIIa
CD61 molecule Target Overview
Molecular weight of 110 kD, expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes and macrophages.CD61/CD41 is a receptor for vitronectin, fibrinogen, fibronectin, vWF that appears during platelet activation and is associated with platelet agglutination.CD61/CD51 is a receptor for vitronectin, fibrinogen, fibronectin, vWF, and TSP, and is associated with the cellular adhesion reactions.
It is used clinically in the diagnosis of Glanzmann's platelet apheresis and megakaryocytic leukemia.
