Review of TFRC molecular targets
Transferrin receptor CD71 is a 1180 kDa type II transmembrane protein, which exists in the form of homodimer on the cell surface and is essential for cell growth. CD71 is expressed in immature proliferating cells, but the expression level is low in resting mature lymphocytes. T cells and B cells stimulated by antigen or mitogen can up-regulate the expression of CD71.
