Dienes stain (Mycoplasma stain) is a classic reagent for detecting mycoplasma contamination using azurite blue staining, often used for apoptosis detection in cultured adherent or suspension cells as well as tissue sections, the reagent detects cellular content in the range of 0.1 to 1 × 106. Dienes stain can also be used for staining of bacterial infections in the genitourinary tract for identification.
