ERCC1 is a highly conserved excisional nuclease in the nucleotide excision repair pathway and is required for effective repair of alkylating agent-induced DNA complexes. Preliminary studies have now shown that the lower the level of ERCC1 protein expression in the tumor, the more effective cisplatin chemotherapy is. patients with positive ERCC1 protein have a better prognosis with non-chemotherapeutic treatments than with chemotherapy.

ERCC1 antibody reagents can specifically bind to ERCC1 molecular antigens. Immunohistochemistry kits containing ERCC1 antibody reagents are suitable for predicting resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy (such as cisplatin) in cancers such as lung cancer and ovarian cancer.
