Insulin is composed of 51 amino acid residues, containing an A chain and A B chain, which are linked by disulfide bonds. Insulin is a hormone secreted by pancreatic beta cells. It is a hormone in the body that lowers blood sugar, promotes the uptake and utilization of glucose by tissue cells, and at the same time promotes the synthesis of glycogen, fat and protein.
