AACT is a serine protease inhibitor found in most histiocytes, macrophages, and a variety of gastrointestinal and lung tumors. It is mainly used in studies to differentiate eosinophilic granulomas from malignant fibrous histiocytomas, etc. It is also used in studies of various carcinomas such as gastric and lung tumors. Vesicular tumors such as pancreatic and salivary glands may also exhibit AACT positivity.
