Nucleophosmin (NPM) in humans is a protein encoded by the NPM1 gene. The NPM1 gene undergoes up-regulation of expression, mutations, and chromosomal translocations in a variety of tumor types. NPM1 chromosomal variants can be found in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, acute promyelocytic leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and acute myelogenous leukemia.NPM1 is usually overexpressed in solid tumors, and NPM1 is thought to promote tumor growth through inactivation of the tumor suppressor p53/ARF pathway; by contrast, when the level of NPM1 expression is low, NPM1 promotes tumor growth through inhibition of centrosome replication to block tumor growth.
Nucleophosmin antibody reagents can specifically bind to Nucleophosmin molecular antigens. Immunohistochemical kits containing Nucleophosmin antibody reagents are suitable for the precise diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia.
