For some spindle cell tumors, such as rhabdomyosarcoma and smooth muscle sarcoma, immunohistochemical staining by Actin, sarcomeric muscle antibody reagent helps to determine the origin of the tumor cells. Rhabdomyosarcoma cells usually express sarcomeric actin, whereas smooth muscle sarcoma cells express smooth muscle actin and not sarcomeric actin.

Actin, sarcomeric muscle antibody reagent binds specifically to Actin, sarcomeric muscle molecular antigen. Immunohistochemistry kits containing Actin, sarcomeric muscle antibody reagent are indicated for the precise diagnosis of tumors of rhabdomyosarcoma muscle and its origin.
