Polo-like kinase-1 (PLK1, also known as serine/threonine protein kinase 13) is a 66 kDa kinase. The activity of PLK-1 is critical for mitosis and maintaining genomic stability. PLK-1 is localized to the centrosome and centromere, where it plays a key role in late and prophase. PLK-1 is overexpressed in many types of cancer and mediates estrogen receptor-mediated gene transcription in breast cancer cells. Overexpression of PLK-1 is associated with tumor development, with elevated expression levels observed in non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, and several other cancer types. Interpretation of any positive or negative results should be conducted by a pathologist in conjunction with histopathological findings, clinical presentation, and other diagnostic methods, and should not be used as a standalone diagnostic indicator.
PLK-1 antibody reagents can specifically bind to PLK-1 molecular antigens. Immunohistochemistry kits containing PLK-1 antibody reagents are suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, glioblastoma, and other diseases.
