S100 proteins are a group of calcium-dependent regulatory proteins with an EF-hand motif, involved in regulating various intracellular activities, including cell proliferation/differentiation, protein phosphorylation, enzyme activity, intracellular calcium homeostasis, and transcription factor activity; abnormal gene expression of S100 family members is also associated with most human tumors. S-100 proteins have three subtypes: S-100ao, S-100a, and S-100b, primarily found in neural tissue, the pituitary gland, carotid bodies, adrenal medulla, salivary glands, and some mesenchymal tissues. They are primarily used in the study of astrocytomas, ependymomas, neuroblastomas, schwannomas, malignant melanomas, liposarcomas, and Langerhans cell proliferative disorders.
The S100 antibody reagent specifically binds to the S100 molecular antigen. The immunohistochemistry kit containing the S100 antibody reagent is suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of astrocytoma, ependymoma, neuroblastoma, schwannoma, malignant melanoma, liposarcoma, and Langerhans cell hyperplasia.
