TGFBR1 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that forms a complex with TGFBR2 to bind TGF-β, transducing TGF-β signals from the cell surface to the cytoplasm. Mutations in the TGFBR1 gene are associated with Loeys-Deitz aortic aneurysm syndrome.
