Immune complexes can activate the complement system through the classical and alternative pathways, leading to allergic reactions and causing damage to glomerular tissue. In glomerular diseases, complement is primarily activated through the alternative pathway, with a minority activated through the classical pathway. Commonly used complement antibodies in kidney biopsies include C3, C4, and C1q. C3 is a central complement component in the human complement system. It reacts with and deposits in glomeruli during renal biopsies, characteristically depositing on the walls of capillaries outside the glomeruli. C3 is expressed in glomerulonephritis and otosclerosis. It is primarily used for detecting the types of immune complexes in glomerulonephritis, aiding in the classification of the condition.
Complement C3c antibody reagents can specifically bind to the complement C3c molecular antigen. Immunohistochemistry kits containing complement C3c antibody reagents are suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of glomerular diseases (such as membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis) and autoimmune diseases (such as SLE).
