Steroidogenic factor 1 (SF-1), also known as NR5A1, is a member of the orphan nuclear receptor family.SF-1 is predominantly found in steroidogenic tissues such as adrenal and gonadal glands at different stages of development and is a major regulator of steroid metabolism, activating the expression of all genes involved in cholesterol transport and steroidogenesis, and is a marker for adrenocortical tumors.SF-1 is expressed in the ventral medial hypothalamus (VMH) and pituitary gonadotrophs. medial hypothalamus (VMH) and is expressed in pituitary gonadotrophs, regulating gonadotropin production or gonadotropin cell differentiation. In pituitary tumors SF-1 is characteristically expressed in gonadotropin cell lineage differentiation.
The SF-1 antibody reagent specifically binds to the SF-1 molecular antigen. The immunohistochemistry kit containing the SF-1 antibody reagent is suitable for the precise diagnosis of adrenal epithelial tumors.
