Human herpesvirus type 8, also known as Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, HHV-8 infection was first identified in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and Kaposi's sarcoma. It is also used in the detection of primary exudative lymphomas, multicentric Castleman disease and related plasmoblastic lymphomas, and HHV8-positive anaplastic center lymphomas.

HHV-8 antibody reagents can specifically bind to HHV-8 molecular antigens. Immunohistochemistry kits containing HHV-8 antibody reagents are suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and primary exudative lymphoma (PEL).
