CK4 is a type II cytokeratin that, along with CK13, is specifically expressed in mucosal and esophageal epithelial tissues.Mutations in the gene encoding CK4 have been associated with mucosal white spongy nevi presenting as leukoplakia of oral, esophageal, and anal mucosa.

CK4 antibody reagents can specifically bind to CK4 molecular antigens. Immunohistochemistry kits containing CK4 antibody reagents are suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and other conditions.
