Chronic granulocytic leukemia CML: Chromosome 8 trisomy is often present in approximately 34% of CML. The presence of additional chromosomal abnormalities (ACAs) is a common progression and acute transformation phenomenon in CML. Common karyotypic abnormalities in CML include +8, and the NCCN guidelines and CSCO guidelines include ACAs in the staging criteria for aggressive leukemia.
Acute myeloid leukemia AML: +8 is a common genetic abnormality in AML, and patients with +8 AML have a higher survival rate when treated with allogeneic HCT than autologous HCT.
Myelodysplastic syndromes MDS: +8 belongs to the intermediate type of cytogenetic prognostic classification in the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Revised International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS-R).
