Multiple myeloma (MM)
13q14 deletion is commonly observed in most stage I multiple myeloma (MM) and individuals with undifferentiated monoclonal gammopathy;
Cells with 13q14 deletion exhibit significant proliferative activity, show poor response to conventional chemotherapy, and have shorter survival;
In newly diagnosed MM cases, the rates of RB1 and D13S319 deletions are similar (46.2% and 38.9%), respectively. Additionally, some cases exhibit concurrent deletions in the 13q34 and 13q14 regions (13.8%) and co-deletions of RB1/D13S319 and D13S25 (85%).
Chromosome number and long/short arm detection
Detection of abnormal numbers at the D13S25 (13q14) locus.
