Lung Cancer

Detects mucinous sarcoma of the lung with EWSR1-CREB1 translocation with a 70%-90% positivity rate and is used as an aid to diagnosis.

Tumors and neoplastic lesions of undetermined differentiation

Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma was formerly known as angiomatoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Age of onset ranges from neonatal to 70 years of age and is most common in adolescents in their 20s. The incidence of male and female is equal;

Immunophenotype: tumor cells are positive for vimentin and CD68; desmin, CD99, calponin and EMA are positive to varying degrees, and CD34 and S-100 proteins are negative;

Hemangiomatoid fibrous histiocytomas are mainly distinguished from lymph node metastasis, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors, and follicular dendritic cell tumors; due to being a Rare tumors, more difficult to diagnose when samples are limited (e.g., puncture samples);

More than 90% of tumors have a t(2;22)(q33;q12) translocation resulting in an EWSR1-CREB1 gene fusion, which is used to aid in diagnosis. Note: A small percentage can also form a t(12;22)(q13;q12), creating an EWSR1-ATF1 fusion gene.
