Approximately 50% of lymphoplasmacytic lymphomas are associated with a recurrent translocation abnormality t(9;14)(p13;q32), forming a PAX5-IGH fusion gene, and are seen in some aggressive B-NHL with complex karyotypes. However, the PAX5 translocation is not present in low-grade B-cell lymphomas with plasma cell differentiation.
