This probe should be used as an aid in the diagnosis of superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumors with PRDM10 translocation, a tumor that needs to be differentiated from low-grade undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. In 2019, the American Journal of Surgical Pathology (AJSP) reported nine cases of soft-tissue tumors with PRDM10 translocations, which had been previously diagnosed as other tumor subtypes, respectively: three of these cases were low-grade undifferentiated differentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, three were superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumors, two were pleomorphic liposarcomas, and one was a pleomorphic hyaline degenerative vasodilator tumor. The soft tissue tumors with PRDM10 translocation had pleomorphic morphology and low karyorrhexis, and their histological spectrum overlapped with superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumors with inert biologic behaviors, which need to be differentiated from low-grade undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas and other sarcomas.
