Calcium-binding protein is a smooth muscle actin and calmodulin binding protein located in fine myofilaments that regulates the interaction of actin and myosin and is a marker for smooth muscle cells. In colorectal tumors this antibody is a meaningful marker for distinguishing fibroblasts from myofibroblasts.
