CD4 Molecular Targets Information Overview
Molecule name: CD4, CD4 molecule
Gene family: CD molecules; V-set domain containing; C2-set domain containing
Full name: CD4 antigen (p55); T-cell surface glycoprotein CD4
CD4 Molecular Targets Overview
CD4, also known as T4, is a 55 kD single-chain type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in most thymocytes, T-cell subsets, and monocytes/macrophages.CD4, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, recognizes antigens bound to MHC class II molecules, and is involved in cell-cell interactions, thymic differentiation, and signaling. CD4 is the primary receptor for HIV and binds to HIV gp120.CD4 also interacts with IL-16.
