CD8A Molecular Target Information Overview
Molecular name: CD8A, CD8a molecule
Gene family: CD molecules; V-set domain containing
Previously known as: CD8
Full name: CD8 antigen, alpha polypeptide (p32); T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain
CD8A Overview of molecular targets
CD8, also known as T8 or Leu2, is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed on most thymocytes, peripheral blood T-cell subsets, and NK cells (basically CD8 alpha/alpha homodimers). CD8 acts as a MHC class I molecule-restricted T-cell receptor in antigen recognition and T-cell activation and in T cell receptor and has an important role in thymic differentiation.
