CD28 Molecular Targets Information Overview
Molecule name: CD28, CD28 molecule
Gene family: CD molecules; V-set domain containing; Ig-like cell adhesion molecule family
Full name: T-cell-specific surface glycoprotein; CD28 antigen (Tp44)
CD28 Molecular Targets Overview
CD28 is a 45 kDa homodimer expressed in most thymocytes and at low levels in most CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and NK cells in the periphery. It is also expressed in activated splenocytes, mast cells, and thymocytes.CD28 is a co-stimulatory molecule for T cells and is a ligand for CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2).Signaling by CD28 stimulates expression of IL-2 and its receptor, as well as cytotoxicity of CD3-activated T cells. This antibody stimulates the proliferation of T cells and NK cells and promotes their cytokine secretion.
