Gene family: CD molecules
Full name: ADP-ribosyl cyclase 1; NAD(+) nucleosidase; CD38 antigen (p45)
Overview of CD38 molecular targets
CD38 is a membrane-localized CD38 is a membrane-localized glycoprotein that catalyzes the synthesis and degradation of cyclic adenosine diphosphate ribose and is involved in cell adhesion and signaling.CD31 is a ligand for CD38 and, when the two bind, leads to apoptosis of myeloid B cells but prevents apoptosis of tonsillar B cells and promotes proliferation of splenic B cells. Normal expression in thymocytes, early B and T cells, germinal center B cells, and some T cells. Abnormally expressed in myeloma cells, primary exudative lymphoma, some chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
