Molecular Information

Overview of ITGAM Molecular Target Information

Molecular name: ITGAM, integrin αM subunit

Gene family: complement molecule; integrin α subunit; regulator and receptor of the complement system

Alias: MAC-1; CD11b

Formerly known as CR3A; CD11B

Full name: Complement Component 3 Receptor 3 subunit; Macrophage-1 antigen α subunit; Integrin, αM (Complement Component Receptor 3, alpha; also known as CD11b (p170), macrophage antigen alpha polypeptide); integrin, αM (complement component 3 receptor 3 subunit)

ITGAM Molecular Targets Overview

CD11b binds noncovalently to CD18 to form the αM-β2 integrin (Mac-1), which binds to CD54 (ICAM-1), C3bi, and fibrinogen.Mac-1 is expressed on macrophages, natural killer cells, granulocytes, microglia, activated lymphocytes, and mouse B-1 cells.CD11b binds to its ligand and is involved in cell-to-cell adhesion interactions. The antibody also cross recognizes human CD11b and detects this antigen on monocytes, granulocytes and a certain group of natural killer cells in human peripheral blood.
